More than 1,100 graduates from American Career College gathered with their friends and family in Ontario to celebrate the Winter 2016 Commencement on Feb. 13.
The stands of Citizens Business Bank Arena were packed as a long line of black-robed graduates from all five American Career College locations in Southern California filed into Citizen’s Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.
"It means a lot," ACC-Long Beach graduate Renee Rinearson. "I've been wanting to do this for over 10 years. Now I finally get to do it and I completed it."
Rinearson did more than just "complete" her medical and billing program. Around her neck, Rinearson wore the program valedictorian medal, a gold cord indicating academic honors, the program ambassador purple cord, a red cord for perfect attendance and a silver cord from ACC's High School Equivalency (HSE) Program.
Rinearson said she learned about ACC while researching her education options. Now, less than a year later, she has been hired out of her externship at Rose Billing in Burbank.
"Just do it, because I was on the fence and I just did it," she said. "I tried to figure out today how I did it, but I don't know. I babysat four kids every day, cooked and cleaned, but I did it."
