ACC Faculty Spotlight: Ina Handojo

07/07/2020

How has the pandemic affected you?

My husband and son stopped working temporarily, but, thanks to God, I still can work from home. I don't need to wake up early and drive 40 miles to school to avoid traffic. I can save gasoline and car mileage. I love to work from home and I like to teach via Zoom.

Ina Handojo: VN Instructor, ACC-Los Angeles
What brought you to ACC?

Previously, I worked part-time at Beverly Hills and was looking for a part-time job that was not too far from Beverly Hills. But, then, I left Beverly Hills, and now I work full-time at ACC. I love ACC, because ACC really does care about students and faculties.

What is your favorite course to teach?

NCLEX review class… Med-surge, OB. Actually, I love all courses...I love the growth and development course too...it is a fun class.

What do you think are the most important attributes of a good instructor?

Always do our best to help students. Be sincere and care!

What is your favorite part of your job?

Teaching

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Always do your best in everything. Show that you care about the students.

What new skills have you learned over the past year?

I got my master’s degree in education, I’ve written many papers, time management, teaching via Zoom, live stream via Facebook, playing the piano and guitar.

What is your teaching philosophy?

I do my best to teach you; please do your best to learn. I share with you my knowledge, so you can help other people, and be a big blessing to the community, your family, and yourselves.

What advice would you give to current healthcare students?

Always do your best, be ready to go to the community to help and make a difference. Always follow the safety precaution for all. Love and care for the people.

If you could be on any reality TV show, which would you choose, and why?

I like to watch Master Chef, Hell's Kitchen, Project Runway… but, I wish I could be invited on a show like Ellen DeGeneres’s because many students appreciate me as a teacher, always do my best, and make a big difference in their life.

What are your hobbies/interests (other than making ACC great)?

Music, singing, studying, organizing, traveling.

What advice do you have for students who are taking online or live stream classes for the first time?

It's amazing that we still can learn efficiently and effectively from home. Be positive, enthusiastic, engage, focus and learn as much as possible. Do not be distracted. Do the homework and be honest in the tests, even though with limited supervision.

Is there anything you want to add?

We can overcome every obstacle! We need to support each other and always be nice and respectful.

ACC cannot guarantee employment. Programs vary by campus. The views and opinions expressed are those of the individuals and do not necessarily reflect the beliefs or position of the school or of any instructor or student.
