The day Usman Chaudary graduated from American Career College was as busy as it gets.
He started the morning by taking his NCLEX exam, a requirement for becoming a licensed vocational nurse. After a few tense hours of waiting, he learned he had passed, but then he had to get ready for his pinning ceremony, where he was a keynote speaker.
“I got a little emotional,” he said after the ceremony at ACC-Ontario. “Twenty months of hard work paid off today.”
Chaudary’s family was there in support, including his father, who he credited as one of the reasons he pursued healthcare.
“I take him to the doctors and the nurses all the time, and I see what they can do, so I want to do the same," he said. “I always have seen that I liked when I helped people.”
Now that he has earned his VN license, Chaudary wants to find work and eventually return to school, with the hopes of becoming a physician’s assistant in cardiology.
“Working hard never goes in the wrong way, it always helps,” Chaudary said. “Patience and hard work, that’s two things that can take you farther.”
