Double the grads, double the fun.
Two vocational nursing cohorts from American Career College-Ontario joined forces this May for an extra joyous graduation ceremony. More than 50 grads crowded the stage in their bright, white uniforms, taking up six rows on the stage. The two cohorts consisted of an evening and weekend class that began in September 2015 and a VN cohort from May 2016.
ACC-Ontario nursing assistant director Karen Bribiesca kicked off the festivities by welcoming the more than 300 people in attendance. Bribiesca led the group in the lamp lighting and pinning ceremony. The crowd cheered and clapped while the 55 graduates received their pin from a loved one or favorite ACC instructor.
Since two cohorts were receiving their pins, there were also two student speakers. Michelle Young-Harrison and Usman Chaudary shared emotional and personal remarks to the crowd before VN instructor Alice Quesada led the newly pinned VN's in Florence Nightingale's pledge.
Latoya Franklin, ACC-Ontario nursing director, shared closing remarks and invited everyone to keep the celebration going with refreshments and snacks outside.
