Occupational therapy assistant students from American Career College-Orange County celebrated the 60th anniversary of the OTA profession by raising more than $500 to help support the Triumph Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps adults and children living with spinal cord injuries.
“Our students have had such valuable, hands-on experiences participating with the Triumph Foundation. Triumph has provided so many opportunities for our student to volunteer at their various events," ACC-Orange County OTA program director Rachelle Murphy said. "We are so grateful for the relationship that our department has formed with them over the years and are so happy to support the wonderful work they are doing."
OTA students organized multiple “dress-up” days and fundraising events during OT Month in April. For a $2 donation, students could come to school dressed on different days in their pajamas, sportswear, crazy socks and Hawaiian attire. During the last two weeks of OT Month, the Student of Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) sold goodie bags around campus and organized a day to sell lunch during class.
