While none of them knew what the next two years had in store when they began at American Career College-Ontario, the April vocational nursing program graduates knew they shared a collective goal.
“We all came from different backgrounds, but there was one common thread that would connect us all for a lifetime,” Cohort 11 class speaker Tyler Rooze said. “The field of nursing is such a broad and dynamic industry with many different avenues that may be pursued after we all leave here today, but the one thing that can be assured is that wherever we go, we will always be a part of something bigger.”
Many of the 33 graduates juggled full-time work along with a busy class or clinical schedule during the evening and weekend program. This meant missed holidays and family functions, Rooze said, thanking them for standing by every step of the way and apologizing for waking them up early on the weekends to leave for school or coming home late at night after studying.
The cohort also thanked the nursing faculty, Rooze added, for sharing their wealth of knowledge in the art and skills of the nursing field to produce “the very best, very competent and very compassionate nurses. For that, we owe you our sincerest gratitude.”
“This has not been easy by anyone’s definition, but we continued to struggle and challenge ourselves each and every day to push harder and keep moving forward, so that in the end we could turn our dreams into a reality,” he said.
