This August, American Career College-Lynwood’s vocational nursing program held a capping ceremony for its first evening-weekend cohort.
“This VN capping ceremony was incredibly special as it was our inaugural VNEW class that started in April and who will graduate in December 2018,” ACC-Lynwood Executive Director Lani Townsend said.
Nearly 20 VN students dressed in crisp, white uniforms received their cap and nursing pin, in preparation of beginning the clinical phase of the 84-week program. Next up for the group is working at local hospitals and clinics, including St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, to complete more than 800 hours of hands-on training.
“These students truly demonstrate personal sacrifice as most work Monday through Friday and then dedicate their weekends and Monday and Tuesdays evenings for this curriculum. That demonstrates true dedication and discipline,” Townsend said.
