American Career College-Orange County celebrated National PB&J Day in April by preparing and serving more than 500 sandwiches to the student population.
"We had approximately 39 staff, faculty and student ambassadors making sandwiches from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.," Valerie Dickson, ACC-Orange County Student Services director, said. "It was a big hit as students stopped by before or after class to enjoy an all-time school favorite."
Nine teams worked in one-hour shifts at both the Magnolia and La Palma buildings. Dickson said they went through more than 18 loaves of bread, 19 jars of peanut butter (crunchy and creamy) and 15 jars of strawberry jam.
"Our volunteers were sandwich-making pros by the end," she said, "and we couldn't have done it without them."
